Andrew Willmott, an alumnus of NEMC, is the senior trumpet instructor at the Westport Music Center, where he has been teaching students of all ages and levels of ability since 1996. Mr. Willmott has been on our faculty since the summer of 2011, and is an active performer in the greater New York City area where he plays in a variety of styles from classical to contemporary.
American horn player and educator Christopher Brigham is currently living in Cologne, Germany, with an active freelance career and private teaching studio. Christopher obtained his bachelor’s degree in Horn Performance from the Hartt School at the University of Hartford in 2013 under David Wakefield and master’s degree in Solo Performance at the Folkwang Universität der Künste in Essen with Frank Lloyd until 2017.
Daphna Schmidt is a freelance trumpet player and teacher in New York City. A native of Philadelphia, Daphna graduated from Susquehanna University with a Bachelor of Music in Music Performance – classical and jazz. She also holds a master’s degree in Educational Leadership and a Music Education Certificate. She is currently the General Music teacher for grades K-5 at Linden Tree Elementary School in Bronx, New York.
Assistant Principal/Utility Horn of the Virginia Symphony Orchestra, Adjunct Professor of Horn at Christopher Newport University, and Horn Instructor of the summer festival New England Music Camp, Stephen A. Slater is recognized worldwide, having performed in five continents in some of the most treasured concert halls such as Carnegie Hall, Macau Cultural Centre, Frederic R. Mann Auditorium in Tel Aviv, Teresa Carreño Cultural Complex in Caracas, & Teatro Bibiena in Italy, among others.
Dr. William Sutton is an avid teacher and performer of trombone, euphonium, and tuba. Prior to his appointment at Northwest Missouri State University where he teaches low brass and music theory, he held teaching positions at SUNY Potsdam’s Crane School of Music, Mott Community College, Olivet College, Saginaw Valley State University, The Flint Institute of Music, and The Michigan State University Community Music School.
Dr. Bruce Tychinski is Professor of Trombone at the University of Delaware where he teaches applied lessons, directs the Trombone Choir and UD Slides jazz trombone ensemble and hosts an annual Trombone Day event. Dr. Tychinski is a member of the Washington Trombone Ensemble, the Nittany Trombone Quartet, Principal Trombonist of the Johnstown Symphony and Second Trombonist of the Lancaster Symphony.
Andrew Wilson is an active freelance and recording artist in the National Capital Region and is the principal trumpet of both the Arlington Philharmonic and the Manassas Ballet Theatre Orchestra. He retired in 2011 as the solo and principal cornet from The United States Air Force Concert Band in Washington, D.C.
