Welcome to New England Music Camp, where musical excellence meets unparalleled opportunity! NEMC is located on a pristine 40-acre lakeside campus in Sidney, Maine. For over 80 years, students have been enriched by our unique program which emphasizes a balance of musical gains and personal and social growth. NEMC offers six different programs, which are divided between two main sessions: Core (4-week) and Intensives & Prelude (2-week). Read below to discover which program is right for you!

  • The traditional NEMC Core session is designed for students of intermediate and advanced levels (ages 11-18), offering a comprehensive curriculum that fosters growth in instrumental and vocal proficiency through private lessons, opportunities for chamber music, musical theatre, and weekly solo and ensemble performances. All instruments and voice are eligible to attend.

  • NEMC’s Chamber Music Intensive allows participants ages 14-20 to focus on two to three pieces in the chamber music literature working alongside our dynamic faculty with a focus on instrumental skill development, score reading, the art of active listening, navigating group dynamics, and the development of leadership skills.

  • Young composers ages 14-20 of the Composition Intensive receive innovative opportunities to hone fundamental composition skills in a creative, collaborative environment fostered by renowned composition faculty. Campers leave the Intensive with a professional recording of their own pieces.

  • For high school jazz students, NEMC’s Jazz Intensive provides a dynamic environment for improvisation and arranging, with a focus on developing individual technique, and ensemble cohesion with performances in a traditional big band and smaller jazz combo ensembles.

  • The Musical Theatre Intensive for high schoolers combines vocal training, acting and monologue coaching, and dance classes to create well-rounded performers, with options for participants to finish the session fully prepared for collegiate auditions. This session offers a unique, holistic, approach to musical theater training and is customized to serve students' individual needs. The curriculum incorporates self-care and prioritizes wellness-based practices.

  • NEMC’s Prelude Strings & Band session offers younger musicians ages 9-13 a supportive environment to further develop musicianship skills and ensemble experience, through participation in string orchestra, wind ensemble, jazz band, and symphonic orchestra, plus exploration of various other musical genres. This program is uniquely curated to meet each camper's individual musical needs.
