LRuas HeadshotLAURA RUAS, Double Bass, is an active teacher, chamber and orchestral musician. Principal Bass of both the Baltimore Chamber Orchestra and former Concert Artists of Baltimore and performs with the National Philharmonic, Annapolis Symphony and Maryland Lyric Opera.

Laura is dedicated to music education and teaches Double Bass at UMBC, Goucher College, and Double Bass, Music History and Theory at the Baltimore School for the Arts high school. Laura was Program Director for The Bridges Program, which provides after school string instruction to youth across Baltimore City. She earned Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from The Juilliard School where she studied with renowned bass pedagogue Homer Mensch.
