New England Music Camp is located on a pristine 40-acre lakeside campus in Sidney, Maine. For over 80 years, students have been enriched by our unique program which emphasizes a balance of musical gains and personal and social growth. At NEMC, students design an individualized schedule of classes and recreation to meet their interests and personal needs. Our 1:4 professional faculty-to-student ratio gives campers many opportunities for daily coaching and side-by-side instruction. Every student receives two half-hour private lessons each week with the option to add more. This summer is your time to join 180 students each session from across the country (and the world) and experience the “magic of NEMC”!
NEMC's Covid-19 Safety Protocols Featured in The Medium
New England Music Camp's Covid-19 response and summer protocols were recently feature in The Medium in an article written by Camp Doctor, Dr. Rebecca Weintraub and Ariadne Labs. Following the closure of our normal camp season, NEMC was able to host a small in-person Chamber Music Intensive the first two weeks of August.
Working with Dr. Weintraub, NEMC was able to set a series of protocols that ranged from campers self-quarantining and testing prior to arrival, masks wearing while indoors, outdoor rehearsals and activities, and daily temperature checks and health screenings. These protocols led to a safe and successful camp that NEMC is looking forward to expanding on next summer for the 85th season.
We cannot thank Dr. Weintraub enough for her guidance and support this summer and for her continued leadership in the fight against Covid-19.

NEMC Alumnus, Steve McClure Performs with first LGBTQ+ band
to march in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade
Steve McClure, an NEMC alumnus from 1958-62, shared this exciting news in the midst of 2020’s crazy and unique Thanksgiving celebrations:
“We're overjoyed to announce that the Lesbian & Gay Big Apple Corps will play in the 2020 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade on Thursday, November 26. We’ve been holding (socially distanced!) outdoor rehearsals and taking all necessary medical protocols to ensure we make it to Thanksgiving in the best of health, ready to play for the performance of a lifetime and our biggest audience yet--over 50 million television viewers! The LGBAC has the honor of being one of the performers representing our city that has been through so much this year. And we are honored to be the first LGBTQ+ band ever to march in the parade, since its start in 1924. Tune in on Thanksgiving morning as we make history!”
