Thank you for expressing interest in a counseling position at New England Music Camp. Cabin counselors at New England Music Camp are the backbone of our social and recreation programs. They live in the cabins with our campers, and plan and supervise the afternoon recreation and evening social activities. We are looking for university students from a wide range of experiences and backgrounds who will bring a love of mentoring young people in a nurturing and supportive environment. The application and two letters of recommendation are to be completed and returned on or before January 15, 2024.

NEMC Counselor Application

The New England Music Camp is seeking university students for counseling positions for the 2024 camp season. To be eligible for employment, candidates must have reached the age of nineteen and have completed at least one year of college or a similar experience prior to the opening of camp. We are looking for people who are committed to creating a space where all campers can thrive.

Your recommendations should be returned directly by the persons who complete them. It has been our experience that the most beneficial references come from current or former employers or supervisors, not only your college professors. (We need to know how you work with young people, not just how you perform or practice.)

The present salary range extends from $2300.00 to $2650.00 (contingent upon assignment). There is also a travel allowance that is paid at the close of camp. The 2024 camp season begins on June 29, 2024. All counselors are required to arrive on June 19, 2024 for counselor orientation.

Anyone applying must be willing to commit to the entire camp season (June 19th – August 23rd). This includes the two-week BYSO camp and counselor week. The Boston Youth Symphony Orchestras (BYSO) will once again offer a 10-day camp immediately following ours, through August 23rd. We will need a minimum of 18-20 counselors to stay for the BYSO program. An additional $1,000 stipend will be given to those hired to work BYSO. You will be notified if you are staying for BYSO when you receive an acceptance letter of employment no later than early March.

In order for NEMC to offer a variety of recreations, we are focused on hiring counselors that are certified in archery, sailing, and lifeguarding. Having those certifications increases your chances of being hired but doesn't guarantee you being hired. We are looking for people with certifications in all areas for the coming summer!

We look forward to reviewing your application!

Please email all materials to by January 15, 2024.
