This two-week program offers a unique, holistic, approach to musical theater training and is customized to serve students' individual needs. The curriculum incorporates self-care and prioritizes wellness-based practices. Emphasis is also placed on the exploration craft and one's artistry as well as the nuts-and-bolts of healthy, sustainable technique. In addition to working with top industry professionals’ students will enjoy quality time on the lake swimming, kayaking, and building friendships that will last a lifetime!
Performance Track: This track is designed for students who are entering their sophomore, junior, senior year or are
attending college in the fall and want to focus on musical theater performance and audition skills training with top industry professionals. This track will include classes in voice, dance, acting and audition technique. The program will culminate in a showcase of work for parents and friends.
Both tracks will participate in classes that are designed for performing artists to better navigate stress management, performance anxiety, life skills, digital wellness,vocal health, how to further develop their unique voice as artists and more. There will also be crossover in some performance-based classes, and the final showcase for friends and family.
College Prep Track: This track is designed for students who are entering their senior year or taking a gap year and are
preparing to audition for university musical theater programs. Students will follow a rigorous course schedule that includes song and monologue coaching, voice lessons, dance call prep,and other skills needed to prepare for a successful college audition process.
Additionally, students will have the option to film their required audition media on site, meeting all requirements of the Musical Theater Common Prescreen (MTCP). The program will culminate in a showcase of work for parents and
friends.
Award winning actress, educator, producer, director Kaitlin Hopkins currently serves as Program Coordinator. Hopkins has worked on and off Broadway and in film and television for over 30 years and has garnered international attention for her holistic approach to artist training. The MT Intensive was founded by Stephen Agosto, who drafted the nationally recognized MTCP criteria in 2018 and is currently the Line Producer at the Goodspeed Musicals in Connecticut.

- Complete Online Registration HERE including:Video of one vocal selection (60-90 seconds) that shows off range. Selection must accompanied and NOT acapella.
- Video of one-minute monologue, memorized
- Headshot and Resume
- $75 non-refundable application fee.
- All materials will be sent to faculty for review.
- Students will be notified on a rolling basis. Please note, the $500 deposit will be due upon admission to the program.
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.
Students that are not offered a position may still apply for the NEMC Core Session.

Bethany Niedbala serves as Program Coordinator of Prelude Strings Band Camp and the Registrar for NEMC, where she facilitates student admissions and creates schedules for faculty and campers. Her other roles at NEMC since 2002 have included camper, counselor, and music librarian.
Stephen Agosto serves as Senior Director of Artistic Engagement at Paper Mill Playhouse in Millburn, NJ, recipient of the 2016 Regional Theatre TONY Award. He is a member of the artistic team that shepherded such new musicals as The Honeymooners, The Sting (starring Harry Connick Jr.), Unmasked: The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber, and Half Time (directed and choreographed by Jerry Mitchell).
A native of St. Louis, MO, Wayne J. du Maine has been performing successfully in the New York City area for over thirty years. As a trumpeter, Wayne has performed and recorded with such ensembles as the New York Philharmonic, Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, and Orchestra of St. Luke’s. He currently holds the principal chair with the Brooklyn Philharmonic and the American Composers Orchestra.Mr. du Maine has also led the Hartford Symphony, Brooklyn Philharmonic, and Westchester Philharmonic as conductor of educational concerts. As a trumpet soloist, he has performed numerous concerti with the Concordia Orchestra as well as orchestras from Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, St. Louis, Jacksonville, Springfield (MA), and Mid Coast (ME).
As a longtime member of the Manhattan Brass, Wayne has presented and created numerous educational outreach programs for K-12 students in the five boroughs, CT, NJ, and PA. He enjoyed his 20 years as a faculty member of Juilliard’s Music Advancement Program, where he led the trumpet ensemble and was founder, music director, and conductor of the MAP Orchestra. He has also taught at Columbia University, Princeton University, Bar Harbor Brass Week, and the Bowdoin Music Festival. Wayne is currently the Director of Bands at the Elisabeth Morrow School in Englewood, NJ, where he leads the Jazz Ensemble, Concert Bands, Jazz Quintet, Rock Band, and Trumpet Ensemble.
Mr. du Maine dedicates his summers to performing at music festivals. This began back in the late 80s, when he spent three summers with the Tanglewood Music Center Orchestra performing as principal trumpet under Leonard Bernstein and Seiji Ozawa. He has since performed at festivals including Spoleto, Aspen, Vermont Mozart, Manchester (VT), Berkshire Choral, Bard, and, most recently, the prestigious Marlboro Music Festival.
Wayne has also been contracted to play many Broadway shows like Titanic, Music Man, Man of La Mancha, and The King and I. He has served as associate conductor for Fiddler on the Roof, the Lincoln Center production of South Pacific, and The Scottsboro Boys.
A major highlight of his career was having the opportunity to perform with Prince at his Paisley Park home in Chanhassen, MN. Wayne can be heard on Prince’s Newpower Soul recording.
Mr. du Maine holds degrees from the Juilliard School where he received the Peter Mennin and William Schuman Awards for outstanding excellence. He has been an associate musician with the Metropolitan Opera for 26 years. As a member of ensembles such as Absolute, Xenakis, and Orpheus, he has toured five continents.
2017-18 was his first year as director of the brass program at NYU Steinhardt.
Music Program
Instrumentalists and vocalists at New England Music Camp spend their mornings in four one-hour periods of music taught by a prestigious faculty of professional performers and educators from universities, colleges, and highly recognized public and private school music programs. A 4:1 faculty to student ratio provides an environment rich in sharing and learning. Students and their teachers at home often remark that “one summer of music at NEMC is like a year at home”!
Campers at New England Music Camp design their own schedules, choosing from a wide range of classes. The weekly schedule includes two one half-hour private lessons, with the option to add additional lesson time, and participation in one or more of the major performing groups. Public performances take place on Saturdays and Sundays at 3pm at our outdoor amphitheater, the Bowl-in-the-Pines.

We live in a close knit community where we dine family style and many of our faculty enjoy joining the campers on the recreation fields.
