Aaron Emerson HeadshotAaron Emerson, a senior at the University of Southern Maine where he studies with Neil Boyer, will earn his Bachelor of Music degree in oboe performance with a minor in ingenuity, creativity and entrepreneurship. He is a freelance musician who has performed at venues across Maine and New Hampshire.

He is the principal oboist of the Southern Maine Symphony Orchestra and was the principal oboist of the North Shore Philharmonic Orchestra in Massachusetts during their 2019/2020 season. In 2019 and 2020, he was accepted into the Sewanee Summer Music Festival where he studied with Robert Stephenson, the principal oboist of the Utah Symphony, and participated in a masterclass with Dr. Nancy King, the professor of oboe at the University of Michigan.

Aaron has also participated in masterclasses with Timothy Long, associate professor of opera at Eastman, and Mark Gibson, director of orchestral studies at the University of Cincinnati. He was awarded the Emily K. Rand Instrumental Scholarship by the Portland Rossini Club in the summer of 2019 and was featured as a talented, young artist in the White Mountain Musical Arts’ Mostly Bach Festival later that year. He is planning to attend graduate school in the fall to earn his master’s degree in music performance.
