Janetta Wilczewska is delighted to join the NEMC team! The Polish native began her studies at the prestigious Warsaw Academy. She moved to Canada to further her studies with Steven Staryk at the University of Toronto where she earned her Bachelor of Music degree, followed by two years at the Royal Conservatory of Music Orchestral Training Program.
Janetta left Toronto after being invited to Germany to play with the Chamber Orchestra of Schleswig-Holstein and attend the Schleswig-Holstein Festival. She later won an audition for and played many years with the Orquesta Sinfonica de Castilla y Leon. Returning to Toronto, Janetta began teaching at the Kingsway Conservatory of Music and playing with many of Toronto’s orchestras, choirs, and recording studios. Chamber music is prominent in her life as well, performing with Music Niagara, piano trios with fellow faculty members of the KCM, and with Quatuor Prima Vista in Clermont Ferrand, France.
Janetta is married to a cellist, Jonathan, with whom she has travelled to Europe and Asia to perform, as well as dodge thunderstorms while hiking in the Karpaty Mountains of Poland, avoid bears in the White Mountains of New Hampshire, and canoe in Northern Ontario. They have a daughter, Fabia, who fortunately has the patience and humour to live within an extended family of musicians.
