Snow Pond Music Festival Artistic Director - Part Time
The Snow Pond Summer Music Festival seeks an engaging and visionary artistic director to begin no later than January 2022. The candidate will work closely with the Executive Director, and Program Directors to implement and further develop the Festival’s artistic vision.
Additional responsibilities include artist hiring and management, artistic programming, and oversight of the Festival’s artistic quality. Based on experience and availability the position may also expand in the future to include Snow Pond Center for the Arts, our lead organization and year-round cultural, arts, and community center. Their broad scope of work includes the Snow Pond Community Arts School, which focuses on private and ensemble lessons and is very well known for its many outreach programs, which are held at partner locations. The mission of these programs is to ensure that every child has access to arts education. The position is year-round and part-time; much of the programming can be done remotely throughout the year, though full-time residency in Sidney, Maine is required during the Festival, which typically takes place from early June to late August. Snow Pond Center for the Arts is home to the prestigious New England Music Camp, the Snow Pond Music Festival, and the New England Adult Music Camp. Founded in 1937, the New England Music Camp Association has welcomed young musicians from around the country and world, sharing the joy of making music in the beautiful Maine Belgrade Lakes region. The festival’s programs include a traditional summer camp program for campers ages 11-18, intensive programs for high school students in chamber music, jazz studies, composition, and musical theater college preparation, chamber music and saxophone programs for university students, and an adult band camp program. All program participants have the opportunity to perform in the historic Bowl in the Pines, one of the largest amphitheaters in the country.
