Bill Schmearer was appointed to the NEMC faculty in 1984. Among the groups he conducted at NEMC are the Chorale, Concert Band, Stage Band and Jazz Ensemble. Schmearer is retired from the Spring-Ford Area School District, located in the Philadelphia area where he served as Director of Bands and Supervisor of Music for the school district.
He is a graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania with degrees in music education, vocal performance, and music supervision. Graduate work was focused on choral/ instrumental conducting. In addition to being in demand as a jazz and commercial pianist and bass player, Mr. Schmearer was Associate Conductor of the Pottstown Symphony Orchestra and founded and conducted the Symphony Singers. He is an adjudicator and clinician in the area of jazz ensemble and jazz rehearsal techniques. Memberships include Phi Beta Mu, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, PMEA and MENC. Bill is a Past President of the NEMC/Snow Pond Board of Advisors.
