Snow Pond Center for the Arts: Vision
The Snow Pond Center for the Arts will be a destination venue providing arts education, performance, and teaching facilities, on a par with other major arts venues. Serving the Central Maine community, the Northeast and beyond, Snow Pond’s centerpiece will be the purpose built, acoustically engineered, 750 seat Performance Hall. The facility will include spaces for rehearsal, music instruction, composition, visual arts, dance, recording, and conferences and meetings.
Snow Pond Center for the Arts: Mission
“Creating a more vibrant community through arts education”.
Snow Pond Center for the Arts’ mission is to foster a community anchored and enhanced by the arts and arts education. The center promises to be:
- The home for the area’s arts instructional community and schools of excellence in arts education.
- In conjunction with the historic Bowl-in the-Pines outdoor performance venue, a premiere facility of the caliber and capacity of institutions such as Tanglewood, Chautauqua, and Interlochen.
- An integral part of the New England Music Camp experience: the Snow Pond facility will support and expand NEMC’s internationally recognized summer youth camps and their expanding programs for college and graduate level musicians, as well as new programs for adults.
- A beautiful and well-equipped lakefront location for retreats and conferences for area universities, businesses, and civic groups.
The creation of the Snow Pond Center for the Arts will provide opportunity throughout Central Maine and be a community resource unparalleled within the region. This remarkable facility will inspire uses as yet unplanned, in addition to the variety of focused art education already planned in Maine’s Kennebec Valley and Capital regions.
